This year's theme, "Ethics of Power and Protection in the Context of Me, We, and the World," had us sitting with some genuinely uncomfortable questions: where does power quietly creep into the therapy room, and where's the line between protecting a client and taking over their process?

Working through that together, as people who already know and trust each other, meant we could be blunt in a way that classroom learning rarely allows - calling out each other's blind spots, sitting with the discomfort instead of rushing past it.

That evening by the sea, watching the sunset together, wasn't just a nice photo op - it was where a lot of the real unlearning happened, in between the formal sessions.

We came back with a sharper, more honest sense of our own ethics, and it's shaped how we each hold space for our clients since - especially in the harder, more layered work with trauma and neurodivergence that's part of what Rooted Connections is built around.
